Glycemic Index

Put simply, the Glycemic Index is the key to your diet.

The Glycemic Index refers to the rate and level which a food is converted into Glucose in your body. The higher the Glycemic Index, the higher the sugar rush you experience. As your blood sugar levels increase, your body releases Insulin to control it. In the process, Insulin tell your body to store the extra sugar as fat.

Diabetics are familiar with the Glycemic Index, because it is crucial to managing their blood sugar levels.

So why watch your Glycemic Index? Because the Glycemic Index is the key to managing your mood. Ever find yourself very irritable during the day? You will almost certainly find that this often takes place when you haven't eaten for a while. It's the key to losing weight. Keep that Insulin from telling your body to store fat, and you've won half the battle. It's the key to high energy. Ever get tired after a big meal of pasta? That's your body crashing as it works overtime to store that extra sugar in your system.

If you want to lose weight, then simply make sure you eat recipes that have either a Low or Medium Glycemic Index. It's truly effective- in fact, this is the diet that a bodybuilder follows when he or she is cutting up (losing those last few ounces of fat to show off muscle definition).
